Troop 97 is a part of the Boy Scouts of America Mecklenburg County Council (MCC). Troop 97 is a member of the Hornets Nest district.
The current incarnation of the troop was chartered in 2004 by St. Mark Catholic Church. In 2009, Troop 97 had its first ever Eagle Scout rank awarded. The troop now boasts over 50 Eagles. Check out the Recognition page for a list of award recipients.
The Troop is moderate in size with about 40 scouts currently registered. Cub Scout Pack 97 (also chartered to St Mark) is the natural feed for the troop, crossing over about a dozen scouts each year. The Troop is well poised to thrive for years to come.
The Troop meets on Monday nights from 6:30-8:00 pm. The meetings are located at the St. Mark Catholic Church Parish Hall, which is adjacent to the church. Troop 97 maintains a rather active schedule, see the Calendar for details on upcoming events.
The last Monday of every month is reserved for the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC). It is during the monthly PLC that the boy lead troop shines. The youth leadership plan the majority of activities in which the Troop will participate.
The Adult Leadership, together with the Troop Committee, guides, advises and mentors the scouts to ensure that the necessary resources are available to provide a quality program for the Troop.
